Well The Mac Place has moved West. Quite a long way West in fact. The site is now hosted on a Media Temple (dv) server somewhere over in the US. It’s still built on a customised version of MovableType, which handles both this blog and general content management, and works superbly. The move has given me an excuse to tweak things a little so now it’s running under FastCGI with ImageMagick doing auto-thumbnail goodness. Since I don’t have comments activated, all content is served statically and I haven’t uploaded any photos yet, that’s probably a little over the top. It’s nice to know it’s there however and the admin interface is certainly nippy.
Our email and other services are still all run in-house, but it’s handy having the website hosted externally as it can also act as a secondary email server and means we don’t have all our eggs in one basket.
Speaking of which we’re also getting some pet chickens in at home, but that’s a completely different story.
