Lucid Nonsense

No more X-Type

Wednesday, 15 July 2009

Jaguar are cancelling the X-Type earlier than they planned. I think it’s a bit of a shame, and while I know that Jaguar wanted to move to a lower-volume higher-margin business, I think they may be missing something in the long run. I had an X-Type that I bought second-hand, and it was a good solid car (based on the Mondeo chassis so no surprise there). The thing is that it was finished nicely, was well-built, and the Jaguar dealership was brilliant. So last year I bought a new XF, which is superb. I probably would never have even looked at a Jaguar had I not had the X-Type beforehand.

Still, the new XJ looks stunning, and hopefully focussing on their core competencies will put them in a firmer financial position than they’ve been for the last few years.
